The 52,000 sq. metre centre will employ 130 people immediately after the launch, which is planned for the third quarter of 2019, said a press release from Protim Ržišnik Perc, a Kranj-based engineering company steering the construction of Cargo-Partner's hub.

Protim Ržišnik Perc acts as a partner of Raiffeisen Leasing, the owner of plots across the main road from the airport, where a new business complex, featuring also the Cargo-Partner hub, will be built in the coming years.

Cargo-Partner has been present in Slovenia for over two decades. A recent press release from the group shows that it generated EUR 698m in revenue last year, up 26% from 2016. The group handled more than a million of parcels in 2017 and saw an increase in air shipments.

Cargo-Partner has been expanding its capacities over the course of the past few years. Among other things, it launched a new storage facility in Sofia, Bulgaria, expanded a logistics centre in Slovakia, and built several storage houses in Hamburg, Germany, and the US.

Cargo-Partner is not the only logistics giant positioning itself near Slovenia's biggest airport. The Swiss group Kuehne+Nagel has recently completed a new facility which will reportedly be the biggest logistics centre serving the Swiss pharma company Novartis in Europe.
