In the first phase, 230-metres of track will be built. This segment is to be funded by the state to the tune of EUR 5.3m, the government said after its correspondence session on Thursday.

The link between the existing track and the airport will cost EUR 8.7m of taxpayers' money, while the link to the industrial zone where Magna Steyr is located will expectedly be covered by the company.

The new track will divert a part of road traffic to the railways, the government said in a press release. The multinational is expected to launch a test run of its new paint shop in January.
