Slovenia's Matej Mohorič wins Deutchland Tour
Mohorič finished six seconds ahead of the winner of the final stage, Germany's Nils Politt (Katusha-Alpecin), while another German, Maximilian Schachmann (Quick-Step Floors) placed third.
His overall victory in the most important multi-stage road bicycle race in Germany comes a week after he won the BinckBank Tour in the Benelux region to become the fourth Slovenian to win a world series race after Primož Roglič, Simon Špilak and Grega Bole.
Mohorič's win is the fifth overall stage race victory for Slovenian racers this season: apart from his two wins, Primož Roglič has won the Tour of the Basque Country, the Tour de Romandie and the Tour of Slovenia.
"Today's victory is a team achievement. We did everything to keep us in the forefront and control the situation... I'm super happy with myself and the team," Mohorič told Bahrain Merida's website yesterday.
