Snow Castles of King Matjaz King Matjaz, one of the main figures of Slovene folklore, will wake up once again from his sleep in the mountain Peca - something you should not miss. In Podpeca above Crna na Koro-skem, the annual snow castle building competition will soon be held. With the constructing of a magical city of snow castles, the competing teams and visitors will lure king Matjaz from his cave so that he can choose for himself the best castle and take one of the female visitors as his Alencica, his wife. The competition will be accompanied by a number of entertaining events, and will close with the lighting of torches and the awarding of prizes for best castles, thus bringing the evening to its peak. The Podpeca snow-building event, held this year for the thirteenth time, brings in visitors from all over Slovenia, as well as from other parts of the world, taking the number of people attending close to ten thousand.
