Tišma has previously served as the director of newspaper publisher Večer and worked for NKBM, the country's second largest bank.

He had also been mentioned as a potential new member of the management board of Slovenian Sovereign Holding, the custodian of state-owned assets.

Although BAMC board members are appointed for five years, Tišma was appointed to serve until 31 December 2022, when the bad bank is planned for closure.

Last week, the government as BAMC's sole shareholder dismissed president Miha Juhart from the board over a dodgy land deal and appointed Tomaž Besek a non-executive director.

The management board consists of four non-executive directors (Besek, Tišma, Mitja Križaj and Juan Barba Silvela) and three executive directors (Imre Balogh as the CEO, Andrej Prebil and Jože Jaklin).

According to news portal Siol, Barba Silvela, who is from Spain, resigned in early November, but will stay on for another three months.
