Slovenia's efforts will focus on supporting dignified work, sustainable and inclusive economic development of partner countries, encouraging employing of women and youth, and the development of micro, small and medium-sized companies in partner countries.

The country will also support and encourage the development of prudent management and the rule of law, including by supporting the setting up of efficient, responsible and transparent institutions.

Projects promoting sustainable use of natural resources and their efficient usage, and those helping reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and adjust to climate change will also be supported.

The two main areas in the strategy on international development cooperation and humanitarian aid are therefore environment protection and gender equality.

The government has drawn up the strategy based on a resolution on international development cooperation and humanitarian aid, which the National Assembly passed on 26 September 2017.
