Jubilant 55th Golden Fox 2019
The first, world ranked, Golden Fox competition for ladies was organised on 17 - 18 January 1970. That year, at the 7th Golden Fox, Austrian, Annemarie Proell, emerged victorious in the giant slalom, the first of many wins in World Cup races for the Austrian who is recognised as one of the best alpine skiers of all time. In the slalom event, the winner was American, Barbara Cochran, who also took first place in the combined event.
The Golden Fox's 50th anniversary could not be celebrated in Maribor because, in 2014, it was forced to move to Kranjska Gora where the giant slalom event was cancelled and the slalom was run despite the sleet that crippled the entire country. And so, in 2019, the celebrations will be all the more jubilant.
