The document, which is yet to be endorsed by the National Assembly, increases the department's funds by almost EUR 49m compared to the original budget, to EUR 844.7m, which is EUR 65.3m above the actual outlays recorded in 2018.

Apart from transport, the increase will also allow more funds for energy infrastructure.

Traffic infrastructure investments include projects set down in the ministry's six-year plan. "These are not only EU-funded projects but also other modernisation, reconstruction and upgrade projects."

This includes a new rail track to the Koper port and segments of the third development axis, a north-south expressway planned between the regions of Koroška and Dolenjska.

To support the investments, the Infrastructure Agency has increased its spending for this year by EUR 36.9m. The goal is to build high-performance railway infrastructure, improve road traffic flow and road safety, the ministry added.

It also said that it plans to boost the drawing of EU funds over 2018.
