Bratušek in Turkey to discuss opportunities for cooperation

Announcing Bratušek's attendance of the summit, the Infrastructure Ministry said that the event would discuss possibilities for closes cooperation between the EU and Asia.

The Eurasian Economic Summit is also an opportunity to establish closer ties with countries from Africa and the Americas, as it has traditionally hosted a number of high-profile political and other representatives of these countries.

The Slovenian minister is attending the summit as a guest of honour of the organiser, the president of the Marmara Group Foundation, Akkan Suver.

On Thursday, Bratušek will hold separate bilateral meetings with Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez.

According to the ministry, the meetings will be dominated by an exchange of views on the possibilities to intensify cooperation between Slovenia and Turkey.

In the field of energy, Bratušek will call for stronger institutional cooperation, and point to the fields in which Slovenia sees opportunities.

The ministers are also expected to exchange views on nuclear energy and touch on projects as part of the Southern Gas Corridor initiative.

When it comes to transport and infrastructure, the ministers will look for opportunities to boost cooperation, especially in maritime transport.

Bratušek is also expected to call for closer cooperation of the country's maritime administrations.

The minister will also discuss with Turhan the progress in the negotiations to conclude a comprehensive aviation agreement between the EU and Turkey, the ministry also said.
