The runner-up from the recent world championship in Sweden's Aare in the same discipline finished behind Alexis Pinturault of France, who secured the small crystal globe in the combined event, and Austria's Marcel Hirscher.

Pinturault (1:56.55) had the best combined time in the downhill and slalom races, beating Hirscher by 0.68 seconds, while the 23-year-old Slovenian was only 0.01 behind the Austrian.

This is the first podium finish in the World Cup for Hadalin, whose previous personal best was 8th place in the slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, last December.

Hedelin's result is also the best result ever for Slovenian male skiers in the combined event in the World Cup.
