Slovenian natural cosmetics companies handle only their own business and don't cooperate with each other. Some use natural ingredients exclusively, some only partially, but all promote themselves as producers of natural cosmetics. After closer scrutiny you may discover that some of them "use natural ingredients, but not exclusively natural ingredients," because some "essential cosmetic substances cannot be produced naturally." Nevertheless, the success of these companies in the Slovenian and European markets shows that even partly natural is considered better than purely synthetic. What is more, the reasonably priced natural cosmetics produced domestically may in some cases be much better than the overpriced imported ones. Lek Cosmetics Lek Cosmetics Ltd. is an independent subsidiary of the Sandoz-owned pharmaceutical company Lek Plc. With over 30 years in the business and an established line of cosmetic products, Lek Cosmetics is one of the leading Slovenian suppliers of facial, hair and body care products in the markets of Central and South-Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Lek also has established distribution partnerships with foreign cosmetics companies Revlon and Gosh. Lek's own products are based on extensive pharmaceutical experience and knowledge of natural ingredients. Their product lines Green Line facial cosmetics and Amai body cosmetics contain many, but not exclusively, natural ingredients. Afrodita Cosmetics The Afrodita Cosmetics Company formulates its products based on traditional cosmetics knowledge, modern dermatological research and the latest trends in natural cosmetics. They put special emphasis on using active natural ingredients of known origin, such as chamomile, almond oil, green tea extracts, aloe vera, etc. A typical buyer would be a middle-class woman who appreciates quality cosmetics made from predominantly natural ingredients. Their products are available through retail shops, door-to-door sales and online shops. The most successful Afrodita products are the Chamomile Sensitive Skin line, the Almond line and the anti-cellulite line Body Slim. Regarding their market reach, 40% of their products are sold in Slovenia, and 60% are sold abroad (in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Eastern and Western Europe, Russia and Iran). Krka Cosmetics Krka was established in 1954 in Novo Mesto and is one of the top generic pharmaceutical companies in Europe. They also produce self-medication products, cosmetics and animal health products and own some of the biggest Slovenian health resorts. Krka ranks among the largest Slovenian exporters with only 17% of its total production sold in the domestic market, 19% in South-Eastern European markets, 21% in Eastern European markets, 23% in Central European markets and 20% in Western European and Overseas markets. Cosmetics represent only 3% of Krka's total production, but that does not mean that the cosmetics line is unimportant to the company. They offer modern product lines for all types of skin care (Vitaskin), teeth (Corident toothpaste), products for the prevention of hair loss and the treatment of itchy scalp, and body care products (deodorants, sun creams, lotions). Piranske Soline Cosmetics To most people, Piranske soline is known for its traditional method of sea salt production, which is strictly regulated. In recent years, they've also developed their own distinguished line of natural cosmetics, the Lepa Vida ("Pretty Vida," named after a well-known Slovenian poem) cosmetics line. It includes personal care products, containing either salt or other saline products, the healing properties of which have been well-known for centuries. The products, particularly loved by women for their successful treatment of cellulite, include Salt-Pan Mud (Fango mud), Bathing Salt with Eucalyptus, Rosemary or Lavender oil, Salt Body Peeling and Brine - Mother Water. The Kahne Cosmetics House Zdenka Kahne established the Kahne Cosmetics House more than 20 years ago. The small company built its reputation with hard work, selling facial and body care products made from exclusively natural ingredients. These include sea algae, floral waters and herbal oils, fruit acids and various antioxidants. The Kahne Cosmetics House is most proud of its non-oily pre-cream foundation, which helps the skin absorb the cream's nutrients more efficiently, and a facial cream called Dotox. On the 31st of January 2006, the invention of Dotox earned Zdenka Kahne the Award for Innovation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (Regional Chamber Zasavje).
