Ambitious Brda Spa project proceeding

The architectural design for a project which the Brda municipality has been trying to bring into life for nearly two decades was made by Udine-born architect Alessio Prinčič.

Initial potential investors were quick to change their minds when they were faced with what looked like insurmountable red tape involved in the zoning.

The rezoning has now been completed and the local community has found a new partner, the Italian-owned investment fund Private Value Capital Management company.

According to Brda Mayor Franc Mužič, the municipality is yet to acquire the land for the six-hectare complex from private owners but the transaction has already been agreed.

The EUR 50 million investment is expected to boost tourism and create new jobs.

The complex with a 45-metre high glass and steel tower and terrace design will take advantage of the stunning landscape, boasting 360 degree panorama views over the rolling hills of Brda.

Using materials such as brick, the design is a nod to the local building tradition, while its green areas will complement the surrounding vineyards.
