Presenting the plan, Infrastructure Ministry State Secretary Nina Mauhler said that EUR 1.67 billion would be invested in rail infrastructure, EUR 402 million would go to boost sustainable transport, EUR 14 million would be spent on aviation, EUR 25 million on maritime transport, EUR 800 million on road infrastructure and EUR 7.5 million for other measures.

Members of the committee expressed belief that Slovenia should invest more in railways and public transport. Mauhler said that funds for railways and sustainable mobility were increasing, while road infrastructure funds were going down.

The key railway projects of the coming years will include the construction of a new track between Divača and Koper, and modernisation of tracks linking Ljubljana to Kamnik, Kranj and Grosuplje, the track between Ruše and Maribor and the construction of a track that would divert a part of the cargo trains from Ljubljana main station.

In the debate, the Left pushed for reallocation of funds from road infrastructure to the railways. Democrats (SDS) MP Boris Doblekar warned that road infrastructure should not be neglected. "We're driving on roads, we're not the Flintstones."
