The 32,000 square-metre three-storage Aleja shopping mall with two underground car parks will house 80 shops, a food court of 2,300 square metres and several coffee shops.

The complex will have a green roof, featuring volleyball, basketball and football courts, a gym and a running track. Its facade, made of steel plates, was designed to mimic the scales of a dragon, the symbol of Ljubljana.

The construction of what will be SES's fifth shopping mall in Slovenia started in 2017 and has been proceeding as scheduled, said the head of Aleja, the Citypark shopping mall and SES Slovenija, Toni Pugelj.

The biggest setback to the investment was obtaining the construction permit, which SES requested at the end of 2010, since the new mall will be competing for customers with the near-by Mercator Center shopping mall.
