The Hit Group ranks among the largest gaming companies in Europe. In 20 years, it has developed from a small F&B company into an advanced gaming and tourist group. The Group looks for interesting challenges especially in European markets and with its innovative approach it holds a considerable share of the gaming, entertainment and tourism sector. The Hit Group was formed in 2001, and now comprises the umbrella company Hit Nova Gorica, and its subsidiaries: Skupina Daimond, Hit Alpinea, Hit Netherlands Antilles, Hit Montenegro, Casino Kobarid, Hit Coloseum and Hit Interactive. The Hit Group has extended its activities outside Slovenian borders. In July 2002, it opened the Coloseum Club entertainment centre in Sarajevo, while in 2004 it inaugurated a completely-renovated Maestral Resort & Casino in Montenegro. In the same year, the Aurora gaming and entertainment centre in Kobarid and the CasinĂ² Dama in Gornja Radgona were opened. Last year Hit and the American company Harrah's Entertainment signed a deal for a mega gaming project in Slovenia. The investment is worth US$700 million and each partner will invest the same amount. If the project were to be realised, it would be the biggest greenfield investment in Slovenia. It was originally planned that Hit and Harrah's Entertainment would present the project to the Slovenian government and the Ministry of Finance and detail the necessary changes in gaming legislation (a relaxation of tax legislation and the lifting of restrictions on gaming licenses) by 15th July, but this deadline has been postponed indefinitely. According to the plan, the business-gaming complex was supposed to start its operation in 2008. The project would allow the Slovenian company Hit to more than double its number of clients from its current 1.5 million to 3.1million a year, and increase revenues from EUR 240 million to 420 million by 2008. According to Hit this new centre has to be designed as a tourist development centre for the whole Primorska region. The Group will invest EUR 11.6 million in 2006 and 2007 for reconstruction and building of their hotel and gaming facilities. Beside the gaming and entertainment sector, Hit will also develop tourist services in the next few years, especially in Nova Gorica and Kranjska Gora, where they would like to attract wealthier guests from further afield.
