The fair puts in the spotlight culinary, cultural and active tourism promoting sustainability as well as camping activities and camper vans.

More than 500 Slovenian and foreign providers will be showcasing their services and products at the event, including a number of camper van providers, with a special emphasis on renovated vans which have turned into quite a fad recently.

The Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre awards excellence and quality in tourism at the event annually - this year, the Jakob Award was bestowed upon the Castles of Posavje for their innovative joint platform providing tours and experiences in Slovenia's eastern region, which boasts a number of medieval castles.

There is also an accompanying programme featuring travel talks as well as debates and lectures promoting the country's cuisine.

A fair dedicated to various treats, including pizza, craft beer, coffee and ice cream, is held alongside Alpe-Adria, displaying new guidelines in the hospitality industry, featuring contests and workshops.

Today's opening ceremony was addressed by Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, who highlighted the importance of cooperation and innovation in tourism, adding that Slovenia's tourism did well in 2019. He deemed the fair an excellent opportunity for networking and forging new business ties.
