Last year, new FDI in the form of equity reached EUR 1.05 million, compared to EUR 535.3 million in 2018. Meanwhile, reinvested profits went from EUR 539.8 million in 2018 to EUR 342.5 million last year.

Outstanding debt to foreign owners decreased by EUR 578.1 million last year after growing by EUR 84.3 million the year before. This drop in debt was a key reason for the lower aggregate inbound FDI last year.

Outbound FDI data is less encouraging, last year it grew by EUR 125.8 million, while the year before it increased by EUR 226.6 million, with FDI stock reaching EUR 6.1 billion.

Outbound equity investment was at EUR 34.6 million last year, a significant drop over EUR 323.8 million in 2018. Reinvested profits meanwhile went from EUR 118.3 million in 2018 to EUR 40.8 million.
