"Despite a rather mediocre summer, we are happy with the results," Incom director Boštjan Jerončič has told the STA.

The company, known for its Leone ice cream brand, is projecting sales to increase to EUR 70 million and profit to EUR 4.4 million this year.

Last year it ventured into the Chinese market, but business has been disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak so that the goods are now waiting for delivery at a Chinese warehouse.

"We expect the situation to stabilise soon so the goods can go on sale. Mainly, we're working on expanding sales outside of Europe," said Jerončič.

Last year the company also made it to the Middle Eastern market. It is also preparing intensively to expand to the Japanese market.

To better adapt to the fast changing and demanding global ice cream market, Incom is reinvesting part of its profit into a new chocolate production to serve as a semi-product as well as end product.

Meanwhile, an investment into new filling lines is being finished these days and a new canteen for the 442 staff was inaugurated on Friday.
