The news comes after Jelko Kacin, the government's spokesman for the coronavirus crisis, on Wednesday asked Slovenian nationals who had been evacuated from other countries to contribute towards the effort, many people having expressed the desire to make such a donation.

The Finance Ministry said significant interest had been expressed already.

The evacuation effort continues and so far more than 300 Slovenian nationals have been brought home from around the world. Several hundred more are stranded abroad seeking to return, according to Foreign Ministry figures.
