Delo expects long-term suffering for tourism industry

Rescheduling guests to autumn, which is what tour operators are trying to do, may be too optimistic, Delo says in the commentary New Tourism Reality.

Consumer behaviour is likely to change as well: guests are expected to be more cautious and put greater value on sustainable boutique tourism, which fortunately puts Slovenia in a good position.

But whereas tourism quickly recovered from shocks in the past, it is expected that tourism providers will first be able to count on domestic guests only, the paper says.

"It will therefore be interesting to see the conduct of mayors of tourist communities, who are now chasing these same visitors away from their fiefs.

"No glasses will help short-sighted politicians who support the ban on travel to other municipalities with the greatest zeal."
