Novartis launched the production of the sanitizer as as result of the epidemic and has so far donated over 8,300 litres to more than 35 institutions in the country, the company said.

Lek director general Robert Ljoljo said the company's employees continued to contribute to smooth production and supply of medicine and were honouring all protective measures in the process.

Novartis has established a US$20 million fund to help communities around the world in the face of coronavirus. In Slovenia it donated US$ 500,000 to the Red Cross and the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth.

Novartis has committed 130 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to support the pandemic response and Slovenia is also among the recipients.
