Regional Business Zones

The local municipalities quickly started to establish business zones, which are now being connected into an economic centre of national importance for logistics. There are two reasons for the RRA Posavje's participation at the fair: the business zones in the region wish to attract foreign investors involved in production and logistics management, but the agency also wishes to gather experience and information on preparing suitable investment projects, including models of the public/private partnerships which are to be offered to domestic and foreign investors in the future. The business zones will be presented at the fair with a special digital 3D program called Virtualno Posavje ("Virtual Posavje"), which will include graphics and text presenting the different business zones, their infrastructure and the support mechanisms available to investors. "The business premises are located right next to the 10th European road and rail corridor, and also have excellent transport connections to the ports at Koper and Rijeka. The existing infrastructure will be enhanced with a multipurpose airport - Cerklje - by 2010. When Slovenia joins the Schengen zone, the Posavje region (located on the border with Croatia) will become an important logistics centre, and a starting point for transporting goods from Eastern Europe and EU member countries to countries of the Near and Far East. Let me also emphasise that the local community shows understanding for the needs of foreign investors' regarding the building of communal infrastructure on business premises."
