Green-energy transition potential strategy after crisis
"We must not allow this crisis to slow down our transition to a low-carbon society because activities and investments in this field may be a substantial contribution to the boosting of economic activity. This could be a key part of our growth strategy," Vrtovec was cited as saying by his ministry.
"Investment activity must not decrease, on the contrary, funds must be ensured to boost investments. We can boost the energy overhaul of buildings, construction of dispersed renewables and the development of smart distribution networks."
In the video conference, Vrtovec also expressed satisfaction that both the electricity and gas sectors in the EU proved to be robust enough and prepared for the corona crisis.
However, he also warned that the bloc should think about measures which may be needed if the crisis persists for a longer period of time, the Infrastructure Ministry also said in the press release.
