At the core of the new law is a subsidised short-work scheme under which the government will provide funds to pay partly idled employees a wage compensation.

Firms set up before 13 March 2020 that will be unable to provide at least 90% of the workload for at least 10% of their workers will be eligible.

Extended by a month, until the end of June, will be a furlough scheme, but only for tourism and hospitality, and businesses related to the two sectors.

The bill brings another measure to help revive tourism - vouchers Slovenian permanent residents will be able to spend on accommodation until the end of the year.

Adults will receive EUR 200 each, while minors will get EUR 50.

Parliament will also discuss a bill with which the government will provide the EU a state guarantee for loans the bloc will provide under the SURE instrument to help finance measures designed to fight unemployment.

Another bill on the parliament's agenda will enable the government to set a list of key investments to help revive the economy.
