All leaders of the participating countries - Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo - have been invited.

Pahor's office said chances were good they would all attend, provided the epidemiological situation allows, of course.

The meeting is expected to focus on the current situation in the region, EU membership prospects for Western Balkan countries and regional politics. Bilateral meetings are scheduled as well.

The initiative, which was launched by the then Slovenian and Croatian prime ministers Pahor and Jadranka Kosor, is celebrating ten years of existence.

Brdo-Brijuni has provided a forum for representatives of EU members states and the region to discuss issues and challenges for the Western Balkans and its countries' path to the EU. The goal is a politically and economically stable region and forging ties among countries in light of the Euro-Atlantic integration.

This was the first platform of this kind and was followed later by similar initiatives, for instance the Berlin Process.

It was Tirana that hosted last year's summit of the Brdo-Brijuni process.
