Accommodation booking portal launched

Viljam Kvalič, a co-founder of www.mojaslovenija.org, told the press that the inspiration had come from similar booking portals abroad.

Accommodation can only be booked via the portal, whereas payment has to be made on-site.

Not to exclude anyone, the portal will offer all sorts of facilities, from mountain huts to the most luxurious hotels, he said.

The portal also promotes the free vouchers each permanent resident will receive from the government to spend on accommodation in Slovenia until the end of the year, so there is a special note saying whether individual accommodation facilities accept them as a means of payment.

Sašo Krumpak, another co-funder, said they would like to present Slovenia's tourist offerings comprehensively so they are focusing on experiences rather than just accommodation.

Kavlič said they would like to encourage Slovenians to explore the hidden corners of their country.

They would also like to attract foreigners so the portal will soon be translated into English and several other languages.

The new project was welcomed by the Association of Slovenians Spas, whose director Iztok Altbauer said it was "a fantastic opportunity for all tourist services providers". He said every initiative designed to help tourism recover post-Covid was welcome.
