Hidria signs EUR 15m deal with three luxury car brands
In the next five years, the Idrija-based company will be supplying parts for high-performance diesel and petrol engines for premium and super-sport vehicles of the three marques, Hidria said in a press release on Thursday.
"The years of experience, competence, know-how and innovativeness of Hidria employees have again convinced the largest players in the global automotive business," added the company which employs more than 2,000 people in Slovenia and abroad.
Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini will install in their vehicles aluminium parts developed in Hidria, which will make the vehicles lighter and more efficient, with better fuel economy, faster acceleration and lower emissions.
Audi will install Hidria's high-quality components in its new, three-litre V6 TDi engine, which will be used for its most recognised models A4, A5, A6, S6, S7, Q5, Q7 and Q8.
The Slovenian company's parts will also be part of the 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol versions of Audi's four-cylinder engines with the TSI and TFSI labels, and in Porsche's new eight-cylinder petrol engine.
"This additionally solidifies Hidria's position among the key global suppliers of high-end engine parts and opens doors to numerous other prestigious projects," the company added.
These include cooperation with Audi and Lamborghini in the development of the engine for the sports cars Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan.
Hidria supplies them with key aluminium parts which enable the vehicles to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and reach speeds of 320 km/h.
