Pompeo will be welcomed at the Brnik airport in the morning by Foreign Minister Anže Logar, who will accompany him to the lakeside town of Bled.

There, Slovenian and US delegations will hold a meeting at the Villa Bled before Pompeo and Janša are scheduled to talk privately.

Moreover, the secretary of state and Slovenia's foreign minister will sign a joint declaration on cooperation in safety of 5G networks, broadly seen as an effort by the US to build alliances against China's cyber power.

This is to be followed by a short press conference, which will be streamed online, as the number of journalists present will be restricted due to coronavirus restrictions.

Only two questions will be permitted at the press conference, one from the Slovenian and one from the US press corps. Pompeo is accompanied by a group of about seven or eight journalists.

After the press conference Pompeo will take part in a meeting on energy, which will also feature Slovenia's Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec.

Pompeo will go on to meet President Borut Pahor for lunch at a nearby villa by the lake at 2pm. The president and secretary of state are also expected to talk about cooperation in energy.

Apart from the delegation and the press corps, Pompeo is accompanied on his tour of Europe by his spouse Susan. He will arrive in Slovenia from the Czech Republic, continuing his tour in the afternoon by flying to Vienna before concluding the talks in Europe in Poland on Saturday.
