More than 300 supporters of the new outfit, which is emerging just prior to the early general elections scheduled for December, assembled at Ljubljana's Union hotel to back efforts for a balanced development of different parts of society and for sustainable policies that they deem paramount for survival.

Hanzek was picked the party's president as the best known name among potential candidates. He said that the initiators of the movement initially did not want to enter politics. They have changed their mind, wishing to restore honour in politics.

Kosir, a retired journalism professor, also told the STA that "it is time for a change". "This world is created for the benefit of everyone, not only the elite," she said.

Arguing that today's step meant a vote of no confidence for existing parties, Kosir added that neoliberal capitalism was destroying not only people but the plant as well.

Meanwhile, representatives of the movement admitted that they were pressed for time when it comes to completing all the formal procedures needed for the party to stand in the upcoming elections. The slates with the names of the candidates, which need to be completed by the start of November, are completely empty as yet.
