Ljubljana - The National Assembly will start its monthly plenary on Monday with questions time for PM Janez Janša and his cabinet. MPs will inquire about the demographic fund, the treatment of Covid-19 patients, and the effects of the health crisis on healthcare.

Soniboj Knežak, MP for the opposition Social Democrats (SD), will ask the prime minister whether he would promote a wide public debate on the proposals for a demographic fund given that the opposition tabled a bill on Slovenian demographic reserves as an alternative to the government's bill on a National Demographic Fund.

MP Jani Möderndorfer from the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) will inquire about the treatment of Covid-19 patients, and the effects of the corona crisis on other health programmes.

A question will also come from the coalition MP Marko Pogačnik from the Democrats (SDS), and it will concern the strategy and priorities of the government in the distribution of EU funds.

MPs will be quite busy the whole week, and will vote on Constitutional Court judge candidate Anže Erbežnik and candidate for vice-governor of Banka Slovenije Arjana Brezigar Masten on Wednesday.

The bill on Slovenian demographic reserves put forward by the opposition SD and Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) will be discussed on Thursday.

The session will wrap up on Tuesday, 27 October, when MPs will discuss the Left-sponsored proposal for a consultative referendum on the government's plan to invest EUR 780 million in the Slovenian Armed Forces in 2021-2026.

They will also open another parliamentary inquiry dealing with the measures taken during the epidemic, this time at the opposition's initiative.
