Ljubljana - This year's Days of Slovenian Tourism, the main annual gathering in the industry, will take part on Monday and Tuesday in the virtual realm due to the Covid-19 epidemic. It will feature lectures and discussions focusing on the Slovenian tourism sector during and after the pandemic.

As is the tradition, the event will open on Monday with the Hospitality and Tourism Assembly, organised by the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber (TGZS) as the oldest event in Slovenia in tourism and hospitality.

It will see addressed by TGZS president Andrej Prebil, Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) director Maja Pak and Marjan Cukrov of the Agriculture, Forestry and Food Ministry.

The event usually features panel debates, lectures, workshops and competitions, as well as a fair of hotel and hospitality equipment, but this year it will be virtual and limited to lectures.

The topics will include protective measures in the hospitality industry, young staff, the green scheme of Slovenian tourism as Slovenia's comparative advantage after the coronavirus crisis and cyber security in tourism.

Selected dishes will be presented, among which the participants will select the best one, and awards by the TGZS will also be conferred.

The plenary part of the Days of Slovenian Tourism will follow on Tuesday, focusing on the Slovenian tourism sector during and after the pandemic, on how to adjust to the changed behaviour of tourists, and where to invest.

It will be addressed by Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, Pak and Prebil, and followed by the main round table debate featuring government officials and representatives of tourism institutions and companies.

The country's top awards in tourism will also be conferred to persons who have made major contribution to the development, reputation and recognisability of Slovenia as an excellent tourist destination.
