Govt extends measures to facilitate tax compliance

EconomyPolitics

Ljubljana - The government extended the measures from the sixth stimulus package which facilitate tax compliance for tax payers, or companies. The measures that would have expired at the end of 2020 will now be in place until the end of March, the Finance Ministry said after Monday's correspondence government session.

The sixth legislative package has been in force since 28 November and enabled the Financial Administration (FURS) to allow a tax payment deferral or deferral of contribution payments for natural or legal persons that have suffered a loss of income due to the epidemic.

The deferral could be granted up to two years or FURS could give a go-ahead for paying taxes or contributions in 24 monthly instalments at the maximum.

The same applies to paying advance tax or withholding tax.

Given that tax payers are still struggling due to certain anti-coronavirus restrictions, the measures have been extended for three months, said the ministry, adding that the deferral scheme was interest-free.
