Norway's Kvandal win individual World Cup event in Ljubno

Ljubno ob Savinji - After Slovenia won the team Ski Jumping World Cup event for women in Ljubno ob Savinji on Saturday, Ema Klinec finished second in today's individual event behind Eirin Maria Kvandal of Norway. Joining them on the podium with the third place is Marita Kramer of Austria.

Klinec was first after the first round, but Kvandal managed a much longer jump in the second to claim her first win in the World Cup.

The 19-year-old Norwegian won the event with a total of 244.2 points, only 1.4 points ahead of Klinec, while Kramer, the winner of the first World Cup event of the season in her native Ramsau, scored 238.1 points.

Klinec is yet to earn her first World Cup win after she and her compatriots Špela Rogelj, Urša Bogataj and Nika Križnar won the team event at the same venue in northern Slovenia yesterday.

Križnar (216.4) finished 10th, followed by Bogataj (215.9) in the 11th place, while Rogelj was below 200 points to finish 24th.

Klinec said she was satisfied with the second place and congratulated the Norwegian on being great today and deserving the win, while not being happy with the conditions for jumping.

"The conditions were difficult, the competition was like a lottery. The other Slovenians had really poor conditions, so I feel bad for them a little," added the Slovenian after getting her 12th podium finish in the World Cup.
