Uptick in daily case count week-on-week and 7-day average

Ljubljana - Slovenia reported 899 new coronavirus cases from 4,369 PCR tests on Monday in what is an increase compared to a week ago when a similar total of tests was conducted. Eight Covid-19 patients died. The 7-day average of new daily cases grew from 744 to 767 in daily comparison, show fresh government data.

The PCR positivity rate was 20.6% yesterday, up from 16.8% a week ago. A total of 35,320 rapid antigen tests were performed as part of Monday's regular screening of school and other staff. Positive ones are re-confirmed with PCR tests.

Hospitalisations dropped by 17 to 567 after 62 patients were discharged home yesterday. The number of those requiring intensive care rose by three to 107.

The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents is at 549 as of 22 February, slightly up in daily comparison, show data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

Since the start of the pandemic, Slovenia has confirmed nearly 186,000 infections.

According to tracker site, 3,792 Covid-19 patients have died.

A total of 11,578 cases remain active in Slovenia, according to NIJZ data.

In line with the plan for relaxation of restrictive measures, Slovenia has not yet reached the yellow tier of fewer than 500 hospitalised patients and the seven-day average of infections below 600.

According to the data from the e-registry of vaccinated persons for as at Monday, a total of 94,999 persons received the first dose and 50,142 persons have already received two doses.
