Ljubljana - The Hungarian minority in Slovenia will get incentives from the state worth EUR 2.8 million in 2021-2024 in a bid to improve the economic development of the area where the community lives.

The funding will be available under three agreements that Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek has signed with the representatives of the Hungarian minority, the ministry said.

"We want existing and new companies to successfully develop," Počivalšek said, adding that companies were a key factor in reducing unemployment in the region.

EUR 1.2 million will be available for the promotion of investments, EUR 720,000 for the promotion of tourism, and EUR 880,000 for support activities.

Počivalšek highlighted as an example of best practice an ethnographic home in Domanjševci as a magnet for visitors; in the previous programming period, the project was supported with EUR 230,000.
