SI-CERT is carrying out a national information security awareness-raising programme, which includes the web portal "Safe on the Internet". The centre is satisfied with the response, according to programme manager Jasmina Mešić.

"The web portal features an e-form through which victims can report on-line incidents - intrusion, fraud, identity theft. This is the first reporting point of such kind in Slovenia," Mešić said, adding that SI-CERT are willing to help the users at any moment free of charge.

While Safer Internet Day is focused on the promotion of safe and responsible use of new technologies among the youth, SI-CERT notes that attention should also be given to the increased use of internet shopping and e-banking by adults, which opens the door to new forms of abuse.

On the occasion, the centre has called on all stakeholders in the field to join the awareness campaign. The majority of Slovenian banks, internet providers, shopping websites and the most popular search engine Najdi.si have responded positively, according to SI-CERT.
