Less Offices and Agencies to Save Money
Žerjav said in a reference to the government's dismissal of the head of the government Office for Religious Communities, Aleš Gulič, that the office would be abolished anyway.
The Government Communication Office told the STA on Tuesday that legislative solutions regarding the reorganisation of the public administration would be drafted in the coming months.
According to unofficial information, the government is moreover planning on abolishing the Office for National Minorities, which deals with the rights of the Italian, Hungarian and Roma minorities in the country, and the Office for Equal Opportunities.
Hungarian minority MP Laszlo Göncz confirmed for the STA today that the National Minorities Office would be transferred to the Interior Ministry. The activities of the office will not change, he said, explaining that such solutions were implemented in several other European countries.
Göncz moreover said that a state-secretary at the PM's office would be in charge of communication with the national minorities among other things.
He also noted that he was not concerned, but that only time will tell whether this way was better, adding that all was not determined yet.
