Film Under the Stars opens at Ljubljana Castle
Ljubljana - Film Under the Stars, an annual series of open-air screenings in the courtyard of Ljubljana Castle co-organised by the city cinema Kinodvor, will open on Thursday evening with Alfred Hitchcock's classic Notorious. Previews and some of last year's most acclaimed films will be screened daily until 7 August.
"Notorious represents the pinnacle of both the director's legendary career and classic Hollywood cinema," says Criterion, a company dedicated to the restoration and distribution of films, about Hitchcock's masterpiece that will be screened on the opening night.
Kinodvor announced that the film, starring the legendary Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant, will be screened in a restored version with the support of the US Embassy.
For this year's Film Under the Stars, Kinodvor has prepared 12 previews and a selection of some of the most acclaimed films of last year's cinema season.
Two culinary films will be screened in preview - A Taste of Hunger by Christoffer Boe and The Truffle Hunters, a film by Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw.
Among the other films screened in preview will be Max Barbakow's Palm Springs, Rifkin's Festival by Woody Allen, Nekoč so bili ljudje (Once Were Humans) by Goran Vojnović, Christos Nikou's Fruits of Oblivion and M. Night Shyamalan's Old.
Last year's acclaimed films that will be featured include Thomas Vinterberg's Druk (Another Round), Chloe Zhao's Nomadland and Viggo Mortensen's Falling.
Film Under the Stars will conclude on 7 August with the preview of Annette, the feature film that opened this year's Cannes Film Festival.
It is the first feature film in English by the 'enfant terrible' of French cinema Leos Carax, starring Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver.
