Annual inflation in July at 2% due to more expensive fuel
Ljubljana - Annual inflation in Slovenia in July ran at 2%, mostly on the account of more expensive petroleum products, while monthly inflation was at 0.4%, the Statistics Office reported on Friday.
Petroleum products accounted for 1.2 percentage points of the annual inflation rate in July, as the prices of liquid fuels were up by 25.2%, diesel by 29.2% and petrol by 24.4%.
The prices of clothing and footwear increased by 4.3% to contribute 0.3 of a percentage points to the annual inflation.
On the other hand, the prices of holiday packages dropped by 5.9% to offset the inflation rate by 0.5 of a percentage point.
At the monthly level, the prices of holiday packages were meanwhile up by 12.9%, contributing 0.4 of a percentage point to the inflation rate.
On the other hand, the monthly inflation rate was offset by the summer sales of clothing and footwear, whose prices dropped by 8%.
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, an EU gauge, consumer prices rose by 2% year-on-year, and by 0.1% at the monthly level in July.
