New Covid infections continue to rise week-on-week

Ljubljana - Slovenia reported 144 new coronavirus infections for Thursday in 1,771 PCR tests for a positivity rate of 8.1% as the week-on-week rise in new infections continued for the 9th day in a row. The 7-day average of new cases was up by four to 116 and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents rose by four to 64, show fresh official data.

In addition, almost 24,600 rapid antigen tests were also performed yesterday.

There are now an estimated 1,379 active cases in Slovenia, up by 86 on the day before, according to the National Institute of Public Health. Since the start of the pandemic, some 259,900 infections have been confirmed in the country.

About 44% of the population has received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 39% has been fully immunised.
