Coronavirus epidemic keeps spreading

Ljubljana - Slovenia logged 68 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, an increase of 17% from the same day a week ago, as 8.8% of the 776 PCR tests came back positive. Two Covid-19 patients died, official data shows.

The National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) estimates that there are now 1,454 active cases in the country, 36 more than the day before.

The 7-day average of new cases rose by two to 116. The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents increased by as much to 67.

The government reported that two Covid-19 patients died on Saturday with the table released by the Health Ministry putting the overall death toll from Covid-19 at 4,767.

Thirty-one Covid-19 patients were still treated at hospitals this morning, including seven in intensive care.

A total of 19,508 people took rapid antigen test on Saturday. Any positives are double checked with PCR tests.

According to the NIJZ, 938,825 people have received one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine and 831,358 have been fully vaccinated, the latter figure representing 39.4% of the country's population.
