Over 130 shorts from 34 countries at 7th FeKK festival
Ljubljana - The 7th FeKK festival of short film will open in Ljubljana on Monday evening, bringing until Saturday more than 130 short films from 34 countries.
According to the organisers, the focus will again be on two competition programmes - the Slovenian FeKK SLO competition and the international FeKK BAL competition.
The international competition programme, previously known under the name FeKK YU and featuring films from the countries of former Yugoslavia, has been expanded to the entire Balkans.
Programme director Matevž Jerman has told the STA that it seems that the Covid-19 pandemic had not affected the number of short films produced in Slovenia, as more than 140 had applied for the Slovenian competition programme.
A total of eleven festival segments will feature around 30 selected programmes, while last year's award winners and a selection of the best Slovenian music videos will be available online in the Slovenian Film Database.
The Slovenian competition programme will include state-supported films as well as fully independent productions, student films and films of Slovenian and foreign academies.
The festival will feature shorts "that reach from Tuvalu over China, the Baltic states to Poland and Hungary", and a diverse selection of films relating to the experience of young people in modern times, the festival's website notes.
