Alja Velkaverh, a flutist, began her musical education at the age of nine at Piran Music School. When she was only 16 years of age, she was invited to enroll in the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where she continued with her studies under Prof. Fedja Rupel and graduated with honours in 2002. She continued her studies at the University of Music in Vienna with Prof. Hansgeorg Schmeiser (first flutist "Volksoper Wien") and was awarded a Master's degree in 2009 (again with an excellent academic record). Parallel to this she finished her postgraduate studies with Peter-Lukas Graf at the "Lorenzo Perosi" academy in Italy.
