Janša meets Cardinal Parolin over topical issues and bilateral ties
Ljubljana - Prime Minister Janez Janša met Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the secretary of state of the Holy See, on Tuesday with the government reporting that they talked about the priorities of Slovenia's presidency of the Council of the EU, relations between Slovenia and the Holy See, the Covid situation and other topical issues.
Parolin is making an official visit to Slovenia as part of Slovenia's presidency of the Council of the EU. He is holding a number of bilateral meetings and will also take part in the Bled Strategic Forum starting today.
After meeting Parolin, Janša, accompanied by his wife Urška Bačovnik, attended Mass celebrated by Cardinal Parolin at the Basilica of St Mary Help of Christians at Brezje, Slovenia's main pilgrimage site, situated in the north-west of the country.
The cardinal celebrated the Mass for Europe and all its people, while he also invoked the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II's visit to Slovenia and Slovenia's 30th anniversary, according to the press release from the government.
