EU agriculture ministers discuss urban-rural dialogue
Brdo pri Kranju - EU agriculture ministers will discuss ways to enhance dialogue between urban and rural areas, as they hold a meeting on the second day of their two-day visit to Slovenia.
The Agriculture, Forestry and Food Ministry said that enhancing this dialogue was important for reversing the negative trend that affected rural areas, such as depopulation and ageing.
The ministers will also touch on the role of the countryside in society and exchange views on how individual member states see coexistence between urban and rural areas, and how they tackle the key challenges.
The meeting, which will feature European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski, comes after the ministers visited on Monday the biotechnology and tourism centre Grm Novo Mesto and the fruit producer Evrosad in Krško.
