Brdo pri Kranju/Ljubljana - PM Janez Janša met IMF executive director Kristalina Georgieva and OECD secretary general Mathias Cormann in Ljubljana on Friday to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the global economy and recovery plans. Both meetings took place on the sidelines of an informal session of EU finance ministers, held at Brdo pri Kranju.

The meeting with Cormann also focussed on other challenges OECD members are currently faced with, according to a press release on the government's website.

Georgieva is in Slovenia to join the EU finance ministers in discussing the impact of climate risks on financial markets and the possibility of IMF financing to be directed towards vulnerable countries. Cormann will join the ministers tomorrow to discuss efforts to improve the global taxation of companies in the digital era.

The two-day ministerial is chaired by Slovenian Finance Minister Andrej Šircelj, and was preceded by a meeting of the Eurogroup this morning.
