Gymnastics: Kysselef, Hribar win silver and bronze in Mersin

Mersin - Slovenian gymnasts Tjaša Kysselef and Lucija Hribar have brought home medals from the 2021 Mersin World Cup finale. Kysselef won silver in the vault, finishing second overall, and Hribar was third in the parallel bars as the event drew to a close on Sunday.

Kysselef demonstrated two good springs that earned her 13.725 points, and she was very close to victory, which would have earned her the overall victory of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) season.

But she finished second overall. Csenge Bácskay from Hungary won gold with 13.775 points.

"What to say? Of course I wanted the victory. But milliseconds counted and this time my rival was more successful in this race of milliseconds," Kysselef told the STA, adding she was very happy with her performance.

She will not be competing now until the World Championship in October. "I will leave out the Szombathely Grand Prix this year, because I don't need another event. I will rather focus on my preparations for the peak of the autumn season, the World Championship in Japan."

Hribar also put up a good uneven bars routine, which earned her another bronze medal. She scored 12.500 points, while Zoja Szekely from Hungary bagged victory with 13.300 points.

Slovenian men's representatives, Sašo Bertoncelj, Luka Kišek and Luka Bojanc did not make it to the finals.
