Shortest Winter Season in Decade

Despite the drop in sales, the ski-lift operator is proud to have carried out the season despite the lack of snow. Having the ski slopes open merely on artificial snow has significantly increased operating costs, the company said.

RTC Žičnice Kranjska Gora is hoping for more favourable winter conditions next year as well as more support from the government. It is hoping that the cabinet will approve two separate weeks of winter holidays for the Slovenian school children instead of one week of joint holidays that the children have now.

"That would make it easier for us to pay off our liabilities," the head of the marketing department, Klavdija Gomboc, told the STA.

According to her, preparations for the summer season, starting at the end of April, are in full swing in Kranjska Gora. Visitors can look forward to a cycling park, summer toboggan run and panoramic rides to the Vitranc peak.
