"The Book is Alive."

This April the Slovenian Writers' Association is organizing the 17th Slovenian Book Days, a book fair which contributes greatly to urban cultural offerings. This year's Slovenian Book Days will take place in Ljubljana, from 16th to 20th of April 2012, under the motto "The Book is Alive." The Fair's central venue will be the newly-rebuilt Congress Square. At the opening ceremony (on Monday, 16 April at 11 a.m.) the audience will be addressed by the President of the Slovenian Writers' Association, Mr. Veno Taufer; while other official speakers at the ceremony will be the Mayor of Ljubljana and the Slovenian President, Dr. Danilo Türk.
The events of the 17th Slovenian Book Days will be enriched with a programme dedicated to literature, authors, and to the book as a pillar of knowledge and feelings. The daily events will be rounded off with the theme of the day: Ljubljana, Spring, Diversity, Memory, and Opulence.
Every day at 10 a.m. children will undertake a literary walk, which will be followed by performances of secondary-level music schools. In the afternoon, at 4 p.m., "The Author and his Reader" will take place. This dialogue between select speakers will present the great names of Slovenian literature.

"Books are the Worlds", meanwhile, enlivens this year's program also with distinguished, highly knowledgeable friends of the book who are not writers - among them the management advisor Violeta Bulc.
Yes, the book is...alive.
