Sport

Ljubljana - The Stožice stadium will host a charity football spectacle on Friday featuring big names of European and Slovenian sport, including football legends such as Luis Figo and Zvonimir Boban.

Two teams will compete for a good cause - to secure scholarships for young athletes from families who are struggling financially - as part of a project by the Miroslav Cerar Foundation.

One team has been put together by the Slovenian Olympic Committee and the other by the Football Association (NZS) and UEFA.

UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin will lead the UEFA/NZS team featuring former football stars Luis Figo, Robbie Keane, Zvonimir Boban, Maxwell, the player with the most matches played for the Slovenian national team, Boštjan Cesar, the second best shooter of the Slovenian team of all times, Milivoje Novaković and others.

The line-up of the Olympic Committee team is just as impressive. Skier Tina Maze, the winner of two Olympic gold medals, will lead the team featuring Olympic medallists canoeist Benjamin Savšek, whitewater kayaker Peter Kauzer, skier Jure Košir, rower Jani Klemenčič and others.

The game starts at 6pm.
